Lemon Water & FREE Online FB LIVE Classes with Cultivate Yoga

I find myself trying to find a proactive way to be helpful as we heed the request to be socially responsible through self-quarentine and distancing ourselves from others during the outbreak of the coronavirus.
In my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) at Cultivate we discussed the Kosha's, and touched on the Ayurvedic philosophy (yoga's holistic sister science of health to keep the mind, body, & spirit in balance). The first of the five Kosha's is the Annamaya Kosha which is the food sheath.
Ayurveda suggests that the first item you ingest in the morning sets the mood for the remainder of the day. I actually do my best to drink warm lemon water first thing every morning. Lemons are high in vitamin C, a natural antioxidant which enhances the immune system and has antiviral and antibacterial properties.
Lemon water instructions are pretty straight forward. First thing in the morning before you consume any other food or beverages, pour 10 ounces of warm water into a cup and squeeze the juice of a whole organic lemon and stir. More importantly, add some zest - commonly known as the lemon peel as this is where many of the beneficial compounds are found.
Warm lemon water can stimulate the gastrointestinal tract to keep things "regular" and the high minerals and vitamins help loosen toxins found in the digestive tract. I think it's important to be mindful and make a concentrated effort to drink water throughout the day to help continuously flush your system.
