Magician Elevates the Roof
Tristan Crist, Master Illusionist, has been outwitting audiences with his slight of hand maneuvers and illusions since he was inspired by a card trick his grandfather demonstrated to him at age six. Crist soon set-up a theater in the family basement where he worked to perfect several tricks with a drive to become a world class magician.
Over the course of ten years, after graduating with a Theater Technology and Design degree from Stevens Point, the self-taught magician and Milwaukee native expanded his act with Circus World Museum in the Dells to accommodate 400 guests.
You can imagine that, after great success in Baraboo, he did the research to find a location to start on his own theatre. He eventually went on to set-up his current operation in a small, intimate setting on Main Street in downtown Lake Geneva.
Our family recently had the pleasure of attending the show. Crist and his team had us on the edge of our seats as he carefully weaved slight of hand tricks and larger than life illusions, including a modern twist on the renowned "metamorphosis," made famous by Houdini, which ignited Crist's passion for his trade. After the show, Tristan and his assistant, Shannon, made themselves available to meet the audience to answer questions, offering photos and the option to purchase autographed, custom Tristan Crist magic kits.
Crist attributes much of the business’s success to his team and assistant, Shannon, who is part of the show and helps him manage aspects of the operation. After three years of providing their big stage performance in a small setting, Tristan Crist is elevating the show to a newly constructed location.
When asked what made him decide to build a new theater, he said, "We constantly sell out and have
to turn people away, and the parking downtown can be a challenge during peak season." The new 1.5 million dollar theater will offer three times the seating for 150 guests, dedicated parking, an expanded lobby, and more restrooms, allowing Crist and staff to enhance the up-close and intimate experience audiences rave about. You can read the five star reviews, rating the show as the number one attraction on Trip Advisor, or see what guests are saying about the performance on the Tristan Crist Magic Theater Facebook page.
The show is appealing for kids and adults alike, and tickets are available for purchase online. Crist and staff are already working on several large illusions that cannot fit on the current stage, and the goal is to have the new venue open by May of this year. They're looking forward to providing locals and tourists an exciting evening entertainment option in the beautiful new facility located at 100 N. Edwards Blvd., Lake Geneva, WI 53147.
